Step 1 fields: Business name\ · Business category\ (searchable dropdown; type 2+ characters, e.g. "Web Search Portals" → "Web Search Portals and All Other Information Services") · Address (optional, city-level is fine) · City · Country* (searchable; "India" sits under "British Indian Ocean Territory") · Zip · Phone/Mobile/Fax (optional) · Email · Website · socials · business and location tags.
Step 2: "Create an account to validate your email" plus accepting the terms. A human must create the account.
After the account: a "Business added, live in Brownbook search within 10 minutes" pop-up offers Claim it FREE. The claim confirms "this is my business" (an owner attestation, so you must agree).
Editing (once claimed): /business/{id}/{slug}/edit with tabs Business details / Additional info / Media. A logo uploads through the business-logo-upload file input. The description is a textarea that may look empty after typing but saves.
Traps:
The category value looks blank in innerText even when it is set. Check with a screenshot.
Listings are found at /my-profile/my-businesses. Site search didn't find the new listing right away.
