Our own test
We prepared a checkseo.dev submission here on 2026-10-13 and stopped before submitting. The notes below explain why.
Step by step, with the traps we hit
- Account: sign in first.
- Step 1 fields:
- Name; Punchline (one line)
- Description (325 characters used)
- Website
- Type (Software)
- Pricing (Freemium)
- Category (Marketing Tools)
- Logo (square; the 256 px white version worked)
- Cover (a 1280×720 screenshot)
- Both uploads show "Ready" when done.
- Step 2, "Pick a launch plan": Free ($0, "Live right away after an automatic check") or Premium ($19, dofollow plus 7 days on the homepage). The Free card shows a check mark when it's selected.
- Badge: a "Get a dofollow backlink" panel follows. It's optional, so skip it to keep to our no-badge rule.
- Then: Submit Product opens a final "Add our badge to your site" pop-up. It says a Free listing "needs our badge on your website", and the only button is "I'll add the badge – Submit" (or Go Premium). The badge is not optional, even though the submit page implies it is. Not submitted for CheckSEO.
- Lesson for the database: a directory's badge requirement can hide behind the last click. Verify every free path all the way to the final confirmation before marking it as passing.
What we found
Final submit modal: "A Free listing goes live right away after an automatic check and needs our badge on your website." Only button: "I'll add the badge – Submit". The submit page itself presents the badge as optional, so the requirement only appears at the last click.
We don't link to sites that failed our test.
